PROJECT: Creative floral styling session for artist Ian Cumberland

Floralearth visited Thread Studio for a relaxed, creative day of experimenting with floral arrangements for local artist Ian Cumberland, who uses their compositions as references for his painted work. With no strict brief and plenty of time to play, the team spent the day building, shaping and refining arrangements in the studio’s beautiful natural light.

The neutral backdrop and open space gave them freedom to explore form, colour and texture without constraints, moving pieces around the studio to see how each arrangement responded to the light. It was a calm, inspiring session focused entirely on craft, creativity and collaboration.

Shot at Thread Studio, East Belfast, this was a perfect example of how the studio can be used as a bright, flexible space for artists and makers to experiment, test ideas and create freely.
